What makes Angie unique?
"I live with my dogs, not on a farm, or a vast expanse of quiet land, but in a home, in a town, with cars, kids, and other distractions all around us.Those challenges can't be under-estimated, for Border Collies, and I've used different approaches for each of my own dogs, as the reasons or needs were different. I think this gives me a unique perspective and enables me to offer the right support, for each family I work with, instead of a one-size-fits-all approach"

Hi, I'm Angie!
BA, CCUI, DipCBT, CFDM
For much of my life, I worked training humans, to work with different systems, and find their team spirit, in various organisations. I have a degree in Business Management, with most of my electives focused on people, L & D, and relationship building.
After spending some time in financial services, and recruitment, I found my niche in training. I liked my career, but never LOVED it.
Then I was blessed with two children, (now almost 18) both of whom are on the Autism spectrum. I learned more from them, about the need for clarity, consistency and patience, than I ever thought possible and have carried this into my work with Border Collies.
During COVID-19 I took the opportunity to gain some professional qualifications in my field, and that brings us right to today! Welcome, and I can't wait to work with you.
How Pawsitive Pups was born...
Pawsitive Pups Dog Training came to be after I got Oskar my Blue Merle Border Collie. I thought I knew about dogs, having had them and trained them all my life. Until he was 7 months old, Oskar was a dream, exactly what I'd expected from Border Collie training!

He, literally, woke up one day and started chasing cars, cyclists, runners, barking at people and generally behaving like he'd never had a days training in his life. I was mortified! Ah! Puberty. In this respect, dogs are no different than humans. They have the same hormonal imbalances, and growth spurts, that a teenage human does and some skate through it, unscathed, and for others, like Oskar it's a trial. Something specific to Border Collies too, it's usually from around 5 months of age they develop their 'eye', hence the chasing behaviours.
Thankfully I found an amazing mentor, which led me through Control Unleashed...and the rest his history.

My lab mix, Bailey, suffered terribly, with separation anxiety, and Zac (the Sheepdog) is our newest addition. At around 8 years old, I rescued him, in 2023 and he came to me, terrified of EVERYTHING...even getting in the car, or going up a flight of stairs, had to be trained. He'd never been house-trained, and screamed at everything that moved. We're further down the line, now, and he's a much calmer boy, though I accept that there are things that may never change about him, and that's ok! It's taken some real work on his frustration tolerance, as well as working to change how frightened he's felt about things. You'll be joining him on his journey, if you sign up to the Happy Herder.
